About the Role
We currently have an exciting full time permanent role for an experienced paediatric Occupational Therapist (OT) to join, friendly, fun, supportive Child Development Service who enjoy sharing good food.
About the Team/Service Location
We are a multidisciplinary Child development Service in the Hutt Valley providing specialist developmental assessment, intervention, and equipment and safety assessments for children with disabilities. The team is comprised of the following disciplines: Speech Language Therapists, Visiting Neurodevelopmental Therapists, and Occupational Therapists, Therapy Assistant, Physiotherapists, Clinical Psychologists, Social Worker, Takiwātanga/ ASD Coordinator, Administrator and Manager.
The Developmental Paediatricians also hold clinics at CDS and with CDS staff undertake developmental assessments.
Wherever possible the disciplines work closely with each other to provide integrated care for the children and families we see. The team has strong relationships with other areas of the Hutt District Health Service. Team members also work collaboratively and liaise with colleagues in the Education sector, the needs assessment and coordination service (Kia Roha) and other community agencies as needed
About you
- Registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand (OTBNZ), and hold a current practising certificate
- Extensive knowledge of Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention techniques used in a child development setting relating to ADL's, motor skills and sensory processing.
- Sound knowledge of the neurodevelopmental norms and ages and stages of children
- Evidence of knowledge and application of habilitation /rehabilitation, functional, and cognitive approaches to assessment and intervention
- Knowledge of wheelchair and seating provision and ADL equipment, and willing to apply for / or already be an approved assessor with Enable NZ in: Wheeled Mobility and Postural Management Levels 1 and 2
- Knowledge of assessment for housing modifications and willing to apply for / or already be an approved assessor with Enable NZ in Housing Modifications basic and complex
- Training in or willingness to complete training in the administration of Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2) and other standardised assessments such as Movement ABC-3, DTVP-3
