About the role | Mō te tūranga mahi

The Fraud Prevention and Investigation team prevent and address fraud, abuse, and waste through intelligence-led action, timely intervention and appropriate remediation. Our Fraud Analytics team builds innovative solutions that turn complex data into actionable intelligence, enabling proactive detection, targeted investigations, and strategic interventions.

As a Fraud Intelligence Analyst, you'll play a critical role in protecting the integrity of the scheme from external fraud, abuse, and waste by delivering timely, accurate, and actionable data and intelligence. You'll analyse information from multiple sources to identify emerging trends, patterns, and risks, providing expert advice to support investigations and targeted interventions.

You'll work closely with Fraud Prevention & Investigation teams and key stakeholders to ensure intelligence is effectively translated into operational decisions and prevention strategies. You'll need to be comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary, matrix environment and excel at managing competing priorities.

  • Experience: Minimum two years in intelligence or related analytical roles.
  • Education: Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g., intelligence, data analytics, statistics, criminology) or equivalent professional experience.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in querying languages, visualising, and analytical tools such as i2, SQL, Python, Power BI, and R, with the ability to produce high-quality intelligence outputs.
  • Data & Intelligence Expertise: Proven ability to collect, analyse, and transform data into actionable intelligence for operational or tactical use.
  • Investigative Support: Experience providing intelligence support to complex investigations. This includes preparing material that meets disclosure requirements and may be presented in Court, demonstrating accuracy, clarity, and adherence to evidential protocols.
  • Risk & Trend Analysis: Ability to identify emerging risks and trends and communicate implications to diverse audiences.
  • Data Visualisation: Skilled in storytelling with data, delivering insights that influence decisions and drive action.
  • Communication & Stakeholder Engagement: Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, able to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Customer-Centric Approach: Anticipates needs, seeks feedback, and adapts outputs for maximum value.
  • Problem-Solving: Translates complex business requirements into practical, evidence-based solutions.
  • Continuous Learning: Commitment to ongoing development and contributing to a collaborative team environment.
  • Cultural Competency: Understanding and application of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles within data, analytics, and organisational decision-making.

This role requires you to be eligible to work in New Zealand.

The appointing salary for this role will sit between $73,196 and $90,418 and we offer an additional 9% superannuation contribution. ACC offer a comprehensive benefits package which at present includes an advantageous superannuation scheme with features like 0% contribution required by you, optional life and income protection insurance, and the flexibility to change to a locked plan at any time, ensuring your financial security now and in retirement.
