Support a variety of intellectually stimulating ICT projects and programmes, working closely with both business groups and project teams to deliver on organisational needs.

Our Information Services and Technology (IST) Division delivers and supports the technology infrastructure and the ~180 applications that interface with the grid, facilitates grid operations and system operations, and supports our corporate processes and functions.
About the team
Our ICT Delivery Services group, within our award winning ICT Division, Innovation Award | Transpower, work to deliver circa $50m+ of technology projects per annum, employing both waterfall and agile delivery techniques. The group is responsible for the delivery and for the well-managed and appropriately resourced project delivery process, designed to ensure a consistent experience for all stakeholders.
The Delivery Services Business Analysis Capability team sits within our IT Delivery Services Group and provides a critical connection between business groups and project teams to help ensure that planned projects in the longer term and delivery projects in the shorter-term address business needs.
The Opportunity
This is a mid-career Business Analyst role, requiring 3-5 years’ relevant experience working as a Business Analyst, or in a role where business analyst skills are embedded and applied such as a Business Consultant, Process Analyst, Scrum Master, Data Analyst or similar in an ICT consulting or delivery environment.
You’ll apply your business analysis skills to a variety of intellectually stimulating ICT projects and programmes, working closely with both business groups and project teams to ensure initiatives meet organisational needs. You’ll apply comprehensive analysis, critical thinking, and strong relationship building skills to translate complex problems into clear insights that help stakeholders make confident decisions.
Reporting to our Business Analysis Capability Manager, you’ll also play a part in strengthening our BA practice within and mentor Associate Business Analysts within the team. You’ll further support the standardisation of BA ways of working, champion best practice tools and techniques, and promote smart reuse of knowledge and software assets — all aimed at enabling more efficient, consistent, and high-quality delivery.
What will you bring?
A relevant degree qualification and/or business analysis certification and demonstrated ability to alternate between working at a high level and in the detail. You'll be known for your active listening and communication skills and attention to detail in all written documentation, and have gained experience from multiple ICT projects in:
- Requirements analysis techniques e.g., interviews, workshops, surveys, business process mapping and analysis, document analysis, story maps, use cases, business rules definition, etc.
- Wider business analyst activities such as but not limited to problem analysis, benefits elicitation and mapping, current and future state analysis, writing development ready user stories with clear acceptance criteria, facilitating refinement sessions and user demos.
Your CV and cover letter will demonstrate outstanding ability to:
- Collaborate with Project Managers to plan and estimate business analysis tasks on projects.
- Collaborate on a day-to-day basis with Solution architects, UX & service designers, software developers, and testers to help inform architectural decisions, project phasing and direction.
- Plan and perform a wide range of analysis activities ranging from planning and facilitating requirements elicitation workshops, defining acceptance criteria to running refinement sessions with project teams.
- Work in partnership with a variety of business stakeholders, to define business problems and clarify thinking to draw out key contextual information and future states to provide a robust foundation for projects.
