Clinical Coder at Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Waitematā, Auckland

These roles are initially primarily onsite positions, with the opportunity to work closely with the Clinical Coding Operations Manager and Team Leader, including providing acting Team Leader coverage during annual leave, supporting Codectomy functional application and testing as required, and contributing to AI documentation audit work.

About the Role

We are seeking applications from experienced, motivated and detail-oriented Level 3 or above Clinical Coders with practical clinical coding experience using ICD10-AM 11th or 12th edition to join our team at Waitematā District on a permanent, full time basis. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the efficient operation of our health services.

Our team operates on a hybrid roster, with full remote options available for the right candidate.

About you

Youre an experienced Clinical Coder with a collaborative mindset, a positive outlook and strong work ethic.

Essential qualifications and experience:

  • Current clinical coding experience in ICD10-AM 12th Edition
  • HIMAA Clinical Coding Certificate or New Zealand-recognised equivalent
  • Solid understanding of Casemix systems and Diagnosis Related Groups (DRGs)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach
  • Demonstrated accuracy, efficiency, and reliability in applying clinical coding knowledge independently
