Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role
The purpose of the Business Analyst role is to provide support in gathering and validating requirements, mapping processes, and ensuring solutions support the Emergency Management Sector - Operational Systems (EMS-OS) programme. This position is a core, dedicated part of the EMS-OS delivery team and is responsible for maintaining effective programme planning, reporting, governance, risk and issue management reporting, and developing solutions with stakeholders across the emergency management sector to progress the programme's workstreams.
Experience/Skills needed:
- Proven experience across the project and solution development lifecycle.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated experience supporting senior leaders and operating confidently within high-tempo, multi-stakeholder programmes.
- A proven track record of maintaining composure and sound judgement in situations that require tight turnaround, ambiguity, or rapid reprioritisation.
- Experience building and maintaining strong working relationships across diverse teams, including the ability to engage constructively in person and navigate sensitive discussions.
- High-quality written communication, advisory, and organisational skills, with the ability to quickly understand complex information and distil it for different audience
- Evidence of proactive problem-solving and taking initiative rather than waiting for direction.
Due to the nature of our role in Emergency Management, NEMA has a very dynamic work environment and as a small agency, staff are often required to pivot and change focus on their work at short notice. Attributes of adaptability, agility, resilience and curiosity are all required on a daily basis, in and out of times of emergency response.

The indicative BASE salary range for this role is $108,018 - $117,951. NEMA offers other benefits such as Department leave, Wellbeing allowance, Vision allowances and more.
