About the Role

The Mental Health & Addictions Group deliver a range of expert community services to people in clinic settings and in their own homes. It is also responsible for the management and development of our specialist services for women, children and whānau in Hawkes Bay.  Many of these services sit at the cutting edge of transformation with big changes planned in workforce design, the way care is delivered and from what locations, and the technologies required to enable new ways of working. Stable, values-driven leadership will be central to achieving the objectives for these services over the coming years.

About you

In addition to a proven track record of leadership in the health and wellbeing sector, our preferred candidate will have exceptional relationship building and communication skills. Mental Health & Addictions has strong dependencies with the other clinical groups in Health New Zeland (Hospital and Whānau & Communities). This group has a vital role to play in partnering with leaders and primary health and social care service providers in the emerging health localities - enabling whānau in those communities to realise mana motuhake and agency in the management of their own health and wellbeing.

To be effective in this position it is essential you have:

  • Operational management experience including service delivery, people and budgets.
  • Demonstrated evidence of people leadership skills.
  • Equity focus and knowledge of the Mental Health and Addictions directorate
  • Project Management to drive key projects
  • A strong commitment of a safe working environment and to the delivery of a quality customer focused service.
  • High level communication skills
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth (mandatory)
  • Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings. (mandatory)
