About the Role

Based in our Histology Dissection Team at Mt Wellington, this is a great opportunity for a Pathologist Assistant or experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our proficient Scientific and Technical team. This role requires:

  • Advanced tissue dissection skillset along with theoretical and practical knowledge of human anatomy and pathology.
  • Working closely with consultant pathologists.
  • Familiarity with Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA) dissection protocols.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Anatomic Pathology Service (APS) is an IANZ accredited medical laboratory and part of Te Whatu Ora | Health New Zealand and Te Toka Tumai Auckland. We provide a wide range of anatomical pathology specialist diagnostic histology and cytology services to the Auckland region and beyond by processing specimens from over 4,000 private specialists, surgical hospitals, and general practitioners. Our Consultant Pathologists collaborate closely with our experienced team of pathologist assistants, scientists and technicians to deliver high-quality and timely results for the patients and clinicians.

You will join a team of 100 highly skilled professionals who are dedicated to excellence, innovation, and patient-centred care. We foster a supportive culture that values open communication, professional growth, and continuous learning.

About you

As the ideal candidate you will:

  • Be currently registered as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Technician with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand www.mscouncil.org.nz or be eligible to do so at point of application.
  • Have experience in dissection/cut-up (Essential) Certified competency in advanced tissue dissection (Desirable).
  • Be committed to quality, accuracy and patient outcomes.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills and a positive, team-focused approach.
