We are looking for a strategic and experienced Senior Advisor, Wellbeing, Health and Safety to join our team and play a pivotal role in shaping a culture of care, resilience, and safety across our organisation.

This is your opportunity to influence system-wide wellbeing and health and safety practices in a high-impact public sector environment.

About the Role

As a Senior Advisor, you will provide expert leadership and guidance on wellbeing and health and safety matters. You'll work closely with senior leaders, managers, and kaimahi to embed a proactive, people-centred approach to workplace wellbeing and risk management.

You will contribute to the development and lead out the health and safety management system and initiatives that support our commitment to a safe, inclusive, and thriving workplace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the delivery of the wellbeing, health and safety management system aligned with organisational goals and legislative requirements.
  • Provide expert advice to kaimahi and people leaders on emerging risks, trends, and champion a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Oversee all incident investigations and risk assessments
  • Develop and deliver high quality and engaging, reporting, training and presentations to all levels of the department.
  • Mentor and support Health and Safety Representatives across the department.

About You

You are a strategic thinker and a trusted Senior advisor with a deep understanding of applying pragmatic wellbeing and health and safety principles in complex environments. You bring a collaborative mindset, strong influencing skills, and a passion for creating positive change.

You will have:

  • Tertiary level qualification in Health and Safety, and ideally a minimum of 2 years' experience in a Health and Safety Business Partner or Health and Safety Senior Advisor role.'
  • Experience in health, safety, and wellbeing in a large, complex, and high-risk safety-sensitive environment,'preferably within the public sector.
  • Proven high-level written and verbal communication skills along with demonstrated experience in delivering engaging presentations for a wide range of stakeholders, including Senior Leadership Teams.'
  • Demonstrated experience working with and influencing front-line kaimahi, general people leaders and senior managers.'
  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in robust risk management, particularly in managing critical risks, and in developing and delivering practical health and safety tools, procedures, and systems in a timely manner.
  • Proven project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with experience in developing and delivering health and safety training and initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience in data manipulation, analysis and visualisation along with report writing.
