Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking a dedicated and flexible Speech Language Allied Health Assistant to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and contribute to the well-being of our community. We are looking for someone who is practically minded and can bring valuable life experience to our workforce.

The role is primarily based at Waikato Hospital, with the slight chance of shifts occurring in rural hospitals and community bases.

About the Role

  • Assisting Speech Language allied health clinicians with patient interventions.
  • Helping patients through their Speech Language journey either as an inpatient or an outpatient.
  • Ordering of equipment for patients.
  • Performing administrative tasks.
  • Undertaking group patient activities when required.

About you:

To be selected for this position, you will need to demonstrate:

  • A positive and flexible attitude with loads of initiative. 
  • Physically capable and injury-free.
  • Understand the importance of teamwork and your impact within it.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with standout interpersonal skills.
  • Computer skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to adapt to changing work demands.
  • Culture awareness.
  • A current full NZ drivers licence.
  • Prior experience in a healthcare setting would be beneficial.
  • Commitment to doing things the right way, not the easy way.
  • Experience in upholding Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
