About the Role

Tū Māia Regional Youth Forensics Service is searching for a passionate and experienced Māori Cultural Advisor to join our dedicated team. In this rewarding role, you will play a vital part in supporting the rehabilitation and well-being of youth involved in the justice system.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Tū Māia is the specialist service provided for children and adolescents who are justice involved and who may be experiencing a mental illness. The team is made up of experienced Mental Health professionals including Specialist Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social Workers, Nurses and Occupational Therapists as well as Māori and Pacific Cultural Advisors. Tū Māia provide assessment and treatment for children and adolescents with a known or suspected serious mental health disorder who are involved in the justice system.

About you

The primary purpose of the role is to provide safe access to services to Tu Maia Regional Youth Forensic Service through culturally competent delivery of support services for Māori and Pasifika communities.

You will:

Have experience and knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi

Experience and knowledge of Tikanga

Have a minimum of 2 years experience working in Mental health and addictions

Have experience working with Rangatahi/Youth and Whanau

Proficient presentation and communication skills (verbal and written) to be able to write cultural reports

A Certificate in Mental Health and Addictions Level 4 OR equivalent qualification is desired
