About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Medical Laboratory Technician to join our Core Biochemistry team in Canterbury Health Laboratories (CHL). As part of our 24/7 service to both the hospital and wider community, we operate high'volume automated platforms alongside essential manual testing processes. Our team is driven by a shared goal'to provide the highest quality service in support of optimal patient care. 

About the role

In this role, you will be responsible for: 

• Efficiently separating and processing samples
• Operating automation track system and all associated analysers with opportunities to develop further skills
• Operating STAT instruments and performing manual chemistry tests
• Adhering to laboratory quality assurance standards and procedures
• Demonstrating a strong commitment to delivering an exceptional service to our clients 

About you

• Strong self'motivation and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies and equipment
• Registration with the New Zealand Medical Science Council as a Medical Laboratory Technician (or eligibility for registration)
• Experience in biochemistry laboratory procedures (advantageous but not essential)
