We employ a talented team of lawyers, forensic accountants, investigators, and electronic forensic, counter fraud and policy experts to do just that and, importantly, we have a small corporate services team that supports our operational teams. Numbering eighty, we are a cohesive team with a strong sense of justice and a vibrant culture.

SFO is seeking an experienced Principal People Lead to join our Auckland CBD team. You will bring your skills as an Investigator, Lawyer or Forensic Accountant to support successful case outcomes.

In this role, you will provide leadership, management, coaching, mentoring, and pastoral care to a team of Lawyers, Investigators, and Forensic Accountants. As a Principal People Lead, you will lead an investigation team through all stages of the process, including the investigation, and any prosecution. You will also contribute as an active case team member, bringing your skills as an Investigator, Lawyer, or Forensic Accountant to support successful case outcomes.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will bring a strong background in financial crime investigations and/or prosecutions, with several years of experience as a Lawyer, Investigator, or Forensic Accountant. You will have a solid understanding of business, commercial, and financial systems, along with demonstrated knowledge of the SFO Act 1990.

You will demonstrate proven leadership capability and ideally possess sound knowledge of criminal legislation, including the Crimes Act and the Criminal Procedure Act. You will model and promote SFO's organisational values, support strategic priorities, and contribute to fostering a positive and inclusive organisational culture.

Strong relationship building skills are essential, as you will work closely with key internal and external stakeholders to support successful case outcomes.
