About the role

We are excited to offer an excellent opportunity for a Newborn Health Screener to provide hearing screening on new-born babies according to National Screening Unit (NSU) protocols. In this role you will practise independently and in collaboration with other health professionals. You will deliver high quality integrated Universal Newborn Hearing Screening services within Te Toka Tumai and will be responsible for regular liaison with personnel working in the hospital, community and other Districts.

This role maintains and cleans the equipment, arranges supplies to be ordered, schedules appointments, enters data, and maintains records and database to a high standard.

About the Service

Starship Community provides multidisciplinary care and cultural support to children, young people and their whānau living within the Auckland area. Our nursing, allied health and technical staff deliver health care services to children, young people, and their whānau in their home, school and community settings. A part of this service is the Hearing & Ear Health team consisting of our talented Audiologists, Newborn Hearing Screeners, Ear Nurses and Vision and Hearing Technicians.

About you

As the ideal candidate for this role you will:

  • Hold a clean, current and full NZ drivers license
  • Have experience working with babies or children
  • Bring with you a strong technical aptitude
  • Have excellent communication skills both written and verbally
  • Be capable of working both independently and within a team

Desired:

  • National Certificate in Community Support Services (Newborn Hearing Screening) (Level 3)
  • Experience in working in the health or education sector
