Kaikaute, Ngā Pūnaha me te Tahua | Systems & Financial Accountant at Te Puni Kōkiri - Ministry of Māori Development, Wellington

Our Finance tīma is looking for a Kaikaute, Ngā Pūnaha me te Tahua | Systems and Financial Accountant. This role has sole charge of maintaining the integrity of Te Puni Kōkiri’s financial systems and leads the continuous systems and business process improvements to ensure the optimisation of the systems and to align current processes with best practice.

The Corporate puni works across Te Puni Kōkiri to partner with stakeholders to enable us to maintain and enhance our capability to deliver efficient, effective and economical outputs. We deliver this through the provision of high-quality advice, systems, tools and processes that are tailored to the needs of Te Puni Kōkiri.

We're on the lookout for a talented and experienced Systems and Financial Accountant to step into a pivotal role where your expertise will contribute to Te Puni Kōkiri delivering on our strategic objectives.

This position offers a unique opportunity to stay at the forefront of technological change while gaining broad exposure across financial disciplines including systems, financial, and management accounting. It's an ideal role for a forward-thinking professional eager to contribute to both strategic and operational aspects of finance.

Alongside month-end and year-end duties, this role offers the chance to get closer to the business – uncovering insights, building strong partnerships, and supporting the wider finance team. It’s a collaborative, support-focused position where your input will help drive informed decisions.

The likely appointment range is $108,952 - $122,862 based on skills and experience.

Mōu | About you 

We are looking for someone who is inquisitive, eager to learn with a positive and proactive attitude. Ideally you will be a Chartered Accountant (or hold an equivalent qualification) with at least 3 years of experience using TechOne or similar system as a Systems Accountant.

You will also:

  • Possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and confidently with a wide range of people within a large organisation, and externally
  • Have an understanding of the machinery of government and the political environment in which Te Puni Kōkiri operates
  • Be comfortable in a te ao Māori environment and in situations where tikanga is observed
