About the Role
We are looking for a Clinical Microbiologist, to join our LabPlus team. This is a fixed term part time role (0.4fte/week) to provide cover for sabbatical leave. In this role you will be offering a pathology and clinical consultative service in Clinical Microbiology within LabPlus and for the Health New Zealand (NZ (HNZ), Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai Auckland district. The role will serve as a clinical liaison among ADHB clinical services utilizing the Microbiology Department, support the delivery of national reference services, and facilitate clinical communication between clinicians and pathologists from other HNZ districts.
- To liaise with clinical staff about clinical problems to support appropriate diagnostic testing.
- To advise the Clinical Head, Microbiology on priorities and changing needs in the diagnostic practice of microbiology.
- To authorise results and assist with updating the reporting format in the depart
- To participate in quality assurance programmes where relevant to the practice of Pathology
- To participate in continuing medical education activities including clinically based research and development activities and present findings at appropriate venues
- To support registrars to successfully achieve RCPA training requirements
- To use departmental material appropriately for research and development
About the Team/Service/ Location
The clinical microbiology team is located on-site, Building 31, LabPlus. The Microbiology Department is located on Level 2 and the PC3 TB Laboratory is located on Level 4. There are five SMOs, working part-time, providing support for the department. There are two funded pathology registrar positions currently occupied by senior trainees.

About you
As the ideal person for this role, you will have the following skills and attributes:
- FRCPA or equivalent, registered or registerable with the NZMC and vocational registration appropriate for a pathology service
- Pathology and clinical experience at a consultant level
- FRACP, or equivalent, and infection prevention and control qualifications
- Knowledge of Laboratory- based information systems including Delphic
- A commitment to achieving equitable outcomes for Māori
- Ability to contribute service delivery plan and achieve short-term objectives within the strategic guide
