About the Role

As a Clinical Nurse Coordinator, you will play a central role in supporting safe, effective and compassionate care within Ngā Rau Rākau, our Mental Health Inpatient Unit at Hawkes Bay Hospital. Each day brings variety as you coordinate patient flow, respond to acute presentations, guide clinical decisionmaking, and ensure our nursing and HCA teams are well supported throughout their shift.

Youll be a key point of clinical leadership on the floor - working collaboratively with the Clinical Nurse Manager and wider multidisciplinary team to maintain high standards of care, support quality improvement activity, and ensure patients and whānau experience a safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive service. This is a great opportunity for an experienced mental health nurse who enjoys leading from alongside, strengthening teamwork, and contributing to meaningful improvements in the patient journey.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Ngā Rau Rākau is our Mental Health Inpatient Unit based at Hawkes Bay Hospital, providing acute mental health care for adults across the region. Our team is a supportive and skilled group of nurses, HCAs, clinicians and allied health partners who work closely together to deliver safe, personcentred, and culturally grounded care. We pride ourselves on strong teamwork, a commitment to equity, and providing a safe, therapeutic environment for tangata whaiora and their whānau.

About you

As a Clinical Nurse Coordinator, you will bring:

• Current NZ Nursing Council registration and Annual Practising Certificate as a Registered Nurse.
• At least three years of recent mental health nursing experience.
• A PDRP portfolio at Proficient level (or commitment to achieve within required timeframes).
• Demonstrated ability to apply Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice and support equitable outcomes for Māori.
• Strong teamwork, time management, communication and problemsolving skills.
