He Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role

This is a 0.2FTE position within the Fracture Liaison Service, based at Tauranga Hospital.

You will be working with a small team of clinical nurse specialists and a geriatrician to provide care, education and advice for patients who have sustained a fragility fracture and may be at risk of osteoporosis. Mainly covering Eastern Bay of plenty region based at Tauranga Hospital. There will be a need to work between Tauranga and Whakatane.

Core components of the role include identification, investigation, assessment of bone health and falls risk, providing information/education and treatment advice, and the integration of care plans for patients, whanau, primary and secondary care providers.

You will be using two national registries and working within national clinical standards to deliver innovative, evidence-based solutions and patient-focused care for secondary fracture prevention within a multi-disciplinary setting.

He Korero mōu - About You

We are looking for a Registered Nurse with a current Practising Certificate and a minimum of 3 years experience, ideally in orthopaedics, older persons rehab or endocrinology.

Knowledge of osteoporosis and experience working with patients who have sustained fragility fractures is useful but not essential. 

You will be an excellent communicator with great attention to detail who enjoys working within a small, specialist team and has the ability to learn the specific skills and practice required for the Fracture Liaison Service.
