Health Care Assistant, Surgical at Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Tairāwhiti, Gisborne

About the Role

The primary focus of this role is to support patients and their whānau by delivering safe, appropriate, and effective care under the direction of Registered Nurses and the wider clinical team. To ensure the continued provision of high-quality care, Ward 9 (Surgical Ward) is seeking applications from Health Care Assistants with a passion for providing excellent patient support in an acute surgical environment.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Our team is passionate about delivering compassionate care and exceptional services to our patients. The Ward 9 surgical team is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and surgical excellence in a warm and supportive environment.

About you

As a Health Care Assistant, you will bring:

  • Previous experience as a Health Care Assistant (preferably in a surgical or acute care setting) or a relevant Level 34 NZQA qualification in Health & Support Assistance or other relevant qualification. 
  • A commitment to delivering high-quality care and supporting patients with daily activities
  • A friendly, empathetic, and respectful manner with patients, whānau, and colleagues
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Eligibility to work in New Zealand
  • Basic Computer skills
