Senior Physiotherapist

Taupo Hospital

Permanent, 0.8FTE (32 hours per week)

You will be part of a supportive and skilled multidisciplinary team where you will feel a strong sense of belonging, growth and will be able to explore innovative ways to offer physiotherapy services to the Taupo/Turangi demographic.

About the Role

This role includes:

  • Opportunity to expand your scope or deepen your specialty focus
  • Staff and student supervision
  • Waitlist management, triaging of referrals
  • Responsibility for staff and student well-being, supporting professional growth
  • Health and safety responsibilities for the Taupo team
  • Working closely with the team leader at Rotorua Hospital for the provision of quality services
  • Clinical role encompasses a generalist skill base to ensure adequate cover for leave in the ward and outpatients
  • Supportive clinical backup and collaboration across Health New Zealand- Lakes
  • No weekend or on-call roster commitment
  • Free staff parking

Job Requirements:

  • Current APC holder (NZ Physiotherapy Board)
  • 5+ years experience in hospital/community settings preferred
  • Strong clinical reasoning, confident autonomy, and collaborative spirit
  • Open to varied pathways to match your goals

About the Team/Service/ Location

The Role is part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team and you will contribute across a variety of domains. Special interests within your role can be accommodated where possible

Rotations may include:

  • Acute wards: medical, surgical, maternity, orthopaedics, ED, paediatrics
  • Rehabilitation: Assessment, Treatment & Rehabilitation (AT&R)
  • Outpatient services and weekly MSK clinics in Turangi
  • Group programme facilitation and tailored clinical pathways

About you

The Taupo hospital is a subsidiary of Health New Zealand |Te Whatu Ora Lakes. However, we have a small, permanent physiotherapy team based at Taupo Hospital. This senior physiotherapy role is a permanent role in Taupo Hospital. You will be involved in and offer:

  • Regular Supervision sessions with the Taupo team
  • Regular in services
  • Support for learning and development that aligns with the departmental vision and national health targets
