Specialty Clinical Nurse: Fracture Liaison at Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai Auckland, Auckland

The Fracture Liaison Service (FLS) is a specialist, patient-centred programme providing comprehensive bone health assessment and coordinated management for people who have sustained fragility fractures. The service delivers evidence-based recommendations aimed at reducing future fracture risk and improving long-term outcomes.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated nurse for a senior clinical position where the majority of time is spent in direct patient care, supported by opportunities in leadership, teaching, service development, and research.

This permanent part-time role (1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week) is based at Greenlane Clinical Centre.

About the role

The Specialty Clinical Nurse is responsible for delivering advanced nursing practice within the FLS and contributing to the ongoing development of a high-quality osteoporosis and fracture prevention service.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing expert clinical assessment, care coordination, and implementation of evidence-based practice
  • Leading the development and review of local pathways, protocols, and guidelines
  • Delivering education and clinical support to patients, whānau, staff, students, and other health professionals
  • Participating in service evaluation, audit, and research activities to support continuous improvement
  • Acting as a patient advocate and clinical leader within the multidisciplinary team

About you

You will be an experienced nurse with:

  • Specialty knowledge and expertise consistent with at least Level 3 (Proficient) practice
  • Demonstrated understanding of quality improvement principles and processes
  • Awareness of professional development frameworks and a commitment to advancing nursing practice
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across services
