About the Role

We are seeking a psychiatrist to join our highly skilled multi-disciplinary Early Psychosis Intervention Team (EPIT)

             Permanent Part Time role (up to 0.8 FTE)

             This position is a Core Children's worker under the Children's Act & requires full safety checks to be completed before any new employee starts

             Salary range per ASMS Senior Medical Officer MECA Step 1- Step 15 ($185,380 - $267,980) depending on experience and qualification

In your new role, you will:

             Utilise a comprehensive skillset informed by Early Intervention Principles

             Contribute to the clinical leadership of the team

             Be based primarily at our Springs Road site in East Tamaki

             Weekly Interface liaison meetings with Tiaho Mai (our award-winning acute inpatient unit) via videoconference, for clients receiving inpatient care

             Engage in community-based assessments in peoples homes, to ensure engagement and collaborative care planning with family/whanau supports.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Working in the vibrant and culturally diverse community of South Auckland, our innovative team provides specialised assessment and interventions for young adults (<30 years) who are experiencing a first episode of psychosis.

Whilst the EPIT service primarily provides specialist mental health interventions for those with a first episode of psychosis, we also provide early intervention for those presenting with an At-Risk Mental State and provide consultation and liaison for our primary care partners for those with mild to moderate concerns.  

The team has a well-established model of care. It employs a full multi-disciplinary approach, incorporating AOD, Vocational, and Peer-Support specialists within the team alongside senior nursing and allied health roles.

EPIT collaborates with primary healthcare providers and various community-based mental health services to provide both general and specialised knowledge and supervision in early psychosis intervention. The team also organises group programs, including co-facilitated sessions with community mental health services and access to cultural groups, all integral to the EPIT model.

About you

You will have:

             Comprehensive experience of modern psychiatric practice in a Community Mental Health setting

             Preferably know Early Intervention or Youth Mental Health approaches

             Passion for working in a collaborative and team-based approach

             Skills in working with diverse population groups, including Maori, Pacific and refugee populations

             Eligibility to register in a Vocational Scope with the New Zealand Medical Council (eligibility for registration can be checked via this link: Registration-self-assessment-tool)

             Hold a current Annual Practising Certificate with the New Zealand Medical Council
