Senior Portfolio Analyst – Fixed Term Opportunity
We have an exceptional 6-month fixed-term opportunity for a Senior Portfolio Analyst to join our Export Credit team. In this role, you will support the administration of delegated loan guarantee schemes, including the wind-down of the Business Finance Guarantee Scheme (BFGS) and the implementation of the Community Housing Provider – Loan Guarantee Scheme.

The Export Credit Team is part of the Commercial Performance Directorate at The Treasury. As New Zealand’s official export credit agency, our purpose is to support New Zealand exports and the internationalisation of its exporters through trade credit insurance and financial guarantees.
Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the Role
Due to increased workflows from the establishment of a new loan guarantee scheme and the impending closure of another, we are seeking a professional with strong financial acumen and excellent technical writing skills to join our team.
As a Senior Portfolio Analyst, you will play a key role in supporting Treasury-administered guarantee schemes. This includes effective stakeholder management, monitoring and reporting on the portfolio, and administering claims.
This role is both strategic and operational, requiring experience in developing business cases, engaging with Ministers, and navigating complex negotiations. You will act as a subject matter expert, maintaining knowledge of relevant markets and portfolio management.
Key responsibilities include:
- Monitoring and reporting on the portfolio and administering claims.
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with senior representatives from scheme lenders.
- Contributing to, and leading, Treasury Reports, Ministerial briefings, and Cabinet Papers as required.
- Responding to Ministerial correspondence, parliamentary questions, and other ad hoc requests from Ministers.
- Delivering high-quality advice on the establishment and implementation of guarantee schemes to Ministers.

- Experience in data processing and performance reporting.
- Proven ability to engage with senior stakeholders and maintain networks across diverse groups.
