Tamariki Whaanau Workers, Mental Health & Addictions at Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Counties Manukau, Auckland

Permanent, part time 0.7FTE negotiable 

Based at 7 Springs Road, East Tamaki 

Remuneration as per PSA Allied Health MECA guidelines

These new part-time roles are grounded in whanaungatanga, manaakitanga, aroha and equality and are designed to:

Support tamariki and their whānau to feel genuinely seen, heard, and valued throughout their journey with our service. 

Act as a strong advocate and connector, ensuring their voices are represented and respected at every decision-making table.

Ooritetanga oo ngaa Ratonga moo ngaa Tamariki `The Equality of Services for all Children has been established to work with tamariki of primary and intermediate school age and their whaanau who are experiencing or on a path to experiencing moderate to severe mental health concerns. 

We are looking for whaanau workers with lived experience as whaanau of tamariki who have been supported by child mental health and addiction services. 

The successful candidates will be part of the Ooritetanga oo ngaa Ratonga moo ngaa Tamariki team and help tamariki and their whaanau to; 

  • Feel welcomed, informed and supported
  • Navigate the MH&A system
  • Have a voice in treatment planning
  • Be linked to the right supports early
  • Maintain connection to kaupapa that matter to them

We are looking for:

  • Minimum: NZQA Level 4 Certification in Mental health, addiction, social science, Pacific studies, community work or similar
  • Personal lived experience as whaanau of a Tamariki who has used MH&A services (essential)
  • Understanding of Te Ao Maaori, Pacific aiga contexts and culturally grounded models of care
  • Able to converse in Te Reo Maaori or a Pacific Island Language (preferred)
  • Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice
  • Familiarity with child MH&A environments (preferred)
  • Full NZ driver license
