Static Physiotherapist, Mana Awhi - Older People's Health at Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai Auckland, Auckland

About the Role

We are looking for an NZ Registered Physiotherapist to work as a Static in our Older Peoples Health wards (Mana Awhi). This role is based at Auckland City Hospital and is a permanent, full-time position 1FTE (40 hours/week).

This role will see you performing the below duties:

Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive geriatric assessments and rehabilitation to patients over the age of 65 with a range of diagnoses including but not limited to amputees, orthopaedic fractures and elective surgery, neurological conditions, falls prevention.

  • Implementing evidence-based practice and service development
  • Motivating, guiding and developing junior staff and physiotherapy students
  • Support equity of health outcomes by incorporating processes into practice that reduce inequities
  • Participate in our weekend and on-call roster

About the Team

Our team is made up of passionate and supportive Physiotherapists motivated to improve the quality of life and health outcomes of the communities we serve. The Mana Awhi team consists of 13 staff working across 4 rehabilitation wards. Our wider Physiotherapy team consists of 94 FTE, working across both inpatient and outpatient settings.

About you

As the ideal person for this role, you will have the following skills and attributes:

  • New Zealand registration as a Physiotherapist with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • 3 years post-graduate experience including clinical experience working in older persons health
  • A flexible, pro-active and can-do approach
  • Strong clinical reasoning skills and use of evidence informed practice
  • Evidence of establishing and developing working relationships within the wider MDT
  • Experience supervising students and junior colleagues
  • Effective time management, prioritisation and organisation skills
  • Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how to provide culturally safe care
