Cook - Tokoroa Hospital at Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Waikato, Manawatu - Wanganui

This position is open exclusively to Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora staff only.

 

About the Role

We are looking for someone with a passion for food to join our 7 day a week dietary service team as a Cook.

The roster will include every 2nd weekend and some shifts during the week.

Duties include meal preparation and the cooking of patient meals, preparing and cooking of cafe food, serving of customers/patients, food and safety hygiene and general kitchen duties.

About our Service

Tokoroa Hospital is a rural hospital 90 kilometres south of Hamilton. It serves the South Waikato district. It has a 10-bed inpatient unit, a busy emergency department and cafe that operates Monday to Friday. In addition, there is a primary birthing unit, outpatient service and visiting specialists. The Tokoroa kitchen also supplies meals for the Meals on Wheels service for our community.

About you

 To be considered for this role, you need:

  • to work well in a team environment.
  • have experience as a cook working in food service. 
  • good physical fitness to work in an environment involving some heavy lifting as well as frequent standing and a humid, busy environment.
  • to be able to follow direction and carry out tasks in a timely efficient manner.
  • the ability to build and maintain positive respectful relationships with customers and team members.
  • to be reliable with an excellent attendance record.
  • An understanding of hospital kitchen functions, and previous experience in similar roles would be an advantage.
