Registered Nurse - Medical Assessment and Planning Unit at Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Capital, Coast & Hutt Valley, Wellington Hospital

Location: Wellington Regional Hospital

Contract: Permanent, Part Time 0.8 FTE, Rostered and Rotating

About the Role

MAPU is seeking highly motivated Registered Nurses to join our team.

The MAPU is a fast paced acute environment providing quality care for patients by streamlining the admission process, facilitating early assessments and reviews, expediting rapid and comprehensive multidisciplinary assessments and treatment planning.

All members of the MAPU nursing team are required to be registered with the New Zealand Nursing Council and maintain an annual practicing certificate. There is an expectation that the nursing team will be on or working towards the Professional Development and Recognition programme (PDRP).

As a Registered Nurse in MAPU you would have an orientation to the organisation, as well as an area specific orientation, and have access to a range of professional development opportunities, including support to progress on the PDRP.

About the Team/Service Location

The MAPU whānau are a friendly, approachable and supportive team who work together to ensure the best outcomes for our patients. We utilise team nursing where possible to develop all team members' skills and to share knowledge and experience.

Our team includes senior, registered, and new graduate nurses who are supported by a large group of trained health care assistants.  

About you

Are you:

  • An experienced Registered Nurse keen to upskill in acute medical assessment
  • Passionate about providing high quality health care
  • Excited to work in a fast paced, acute environment
  • An enthusiastic team player, with a genuine interest in the best outcomes for both the patient and team

 You will have:

  • A Current Annual Practising Certificate
  • Current NZ Work Visa or have the legal right to work in New Zealand
