Specialty Clinical Nurse at Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Hutt Valley, Lower Hutt

Location: Wellington Regional Hospital or Hutt Hospital

Contract: Permanent, Part Time 0.6 FTE Rostered and Rotating

About the Role 

The Specialty Clinical Nurse (SCN) uses in-depth knowledge to provide expert patient care with a practice focus on breast care, Breast screening and perioperative support, and surveillance within the sub-regional breast and cervical service. The SCN works in a specialised practice area with advanced knowledge and skills beyond that of an expert Registered Nurse (RN), enabling personalised, proactive, and consistent care throughout the patient journey.

About the Team/Service Location 

Regional Screening Services (RSS) provides free Breast Screening to all eligible women from the Wairarapa to Kapiti area servicing the needs of the wider Hutt Valley's. The Breast Centre is under the BSA contract, provides all Breast Services for the communities in Wairarapa and Hutt Valley, provides Breast Radiology services and manages the cervical register

About you 

  • The ability to work using a team nursing approach.
  • Working collaboratively to ensure quality patient care is received.
  • Works directly with patients and families to coordinate care, provide assessment and education
  • contributes to service specific pathways, protocols and guidelines that reflect best practice 
  • Safe and effective patient care in an environment of continuous improvement
