Obstetrics & Gynaecology Registrar - 2027 Training Year at Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Te Matau a Māui Hawke's Bay, Hawkes Bay

About the Role

We are seeking an Obstetrics & Gynaecology (O&G) Registrar to join our Obstetrics & Gynaecology department here at Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldiers Memorial Hospital. The 2027 training year commences on 1 February 2027, with mid-year intakes on 2 August 2027.

In this role there is a breath of experience available and responsibilities which include managing the acute obstetrics and gynaecology service and the care of inpatients. You will also be expected to attend Womens Outpatients clinics, Operating Theatre sessions, the Emergency Department and the Early Pregnancy Clinic. There may also be occasional requirements to attend outpatient clinics at sites within Hawkes Bay.
 

About the Team/Service/ Location

The successful candidate would join a team of 8 Registrars, you will have the full support of 8 Specialist Consultants and work closely with 8 House Officers.

Located in Hastings, Hawkes Bay Hospital is a 400 bed secondary level public hospital delivering both acute and elective care across a broad range of medical and surgical specialties, including paediatrics and obstetrics & gynaecology. We are supported by a strong regional ICU and flight team with tertiary support for cardiac intervention, cardiothoracic surgery, plastics and neurosurgery from Wellington, ensuring comprehensive care.

About you

  • Youre a Resident Medical Officer (RMO) PGY3 or above
  • You have ideally completed 6 months of experience at Registrar level within an Obstetrics and Gynaecology service
  • You are registered or eligible for general registration, with the Medical Council of New Zealand
