Whangārei is the largest hospital in Northland, providing secondary care services for the region, supported by four regional hospitals. Due to the population make up and the unselected nature of our admissions, our Registrars gain experience managing a wide variety of conditions including rarer conditions such as rheumatic fever, tuberculosis and meningococcal disease.
About our Service and General Medicine Registrar Role
- Accredited for 24 months basic training and 12 months advanced physician training with RACP.
- An active clinical training programme with didactic sessions, interactive based teaching, journal club and videoconferencing of RACP lectures.
- Provision of close supervision for trainees in acute and outpatient settings, allied with a commitment to teaching
- Rotations in the following specialties Please advise preference in application:
- General Medicine
- Cardiology
- Geriatric and Stroke
- Haematology
- Oncology
- Renal
- Acute Care of Elderly
Our General Medicine Registrars are part of a dynamic team of Medical Registrars and Consultants with special interests in cardiology, diabetes, respiratory medicine, nephrology and oncology. Working closely with your consultant means you can widen your practice as your skills grow.
