Paediatric Tutor Specialist at Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Counties Manukau, Auckland

Tutor Specialist,  Kidz First Childrens Hospital, 12 month Fixed Term, Fulltime

About the Role

The primary purpose of this position is to be a member of the senior medical team in providing specialist paediatric medical assessment and ongoing management where required for children and young people across our Acute, Inpatient and Ambulatory settings.

 Some of the key responsibilities include

  •  Supervision

  •  Teaching

  •  Roster Coordination

  •  Guidance & Support for our team of 28+ RMOs in training.

 This unique role will give the candidate the skills and experience needed for a consultant paediatrician role. You will benefit by having excellent support and mentoring that is provided to you during your time with us. 

This full-time, fixed term (12 months) position also includes a requirement to participate in the general paediatrics consultant after-hours roster (including 1:6 weekend ward rounds and some overnight on call) with full back up.

About you

  • This position is suitable for senior trainees with expectation of achieving Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians within 6-9 months or a new RACP Fellow.

  • Eligible for registration with the New Zealand Medical Council.  

  • Be a team player that can traverse across services and respectful of other disciplines

  • Demonstrate effective communication styles, critical thinking and striving to improve health inequities

  • A proven ability or competence in working with Maaori, Pacific and culturally diverse population is preferred
