About the Role

The Hospital Operations Directorate is proud to lead and operate Awhi Oranga Employee Support Centre, a dedicated service supporting the wellbeing of our Auckland City Hospital and Greenlane Clinical Centre kaimahi.

Awhi Oranga provides a wide range of support services including Justice of the Peace services, Employee Assistance Programme support, Rongoā Māori wellbeing and tikanga-led support, food parcels, fitness and Pilates offerings, public transport support options and connections to internal and community support services.

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate leader to join us as the Manager Awhi Oranga (Employee Support Centre) on a 12-month fixed term basis.

This is a unique opportunity to lead a wellbeing-focused service that makes a meaningful difference to the lives of our people every day. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on operational management and relationship building across the organisation and wider community.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the day-to-day operations of Awhi Oranga
  • Supporting employees to access appropriate wellbeing and support services
  • Building strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Leading fundraising initiatives and growing the Manaaki Fund
  • Driving continuous improvement and future development of centre services
  • Supporting onboarding and workforce wellbeing programmes including Kai Arahi and To Thrive

To be Successful in this Position

You will bring:

  • Significant experience in workforce development, supportive employment, wellbeing, community support or related fields
  • Strong relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills
  • A passion for equity, hauora and supporting diverse communities
  • Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving abilities
  • An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally safe practice within a healthcare setting
  • The ability to lead with compassion, initiative and professionalism
