Team Lead Enrolment Support - Wellington at Electoral Commission, Wellington

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About the role 

We are seeking a motivated and detail-focused Team Lead to support the preparation and delivery of electoral campaigns. 

You will lead a team responsible for managing confidential customer inquiries (inbound & outbound calls, responding to email and postal enquiries) processing enrolment information and maintaining the accuracy of the electoral roll. You’ll play a key part in ensuring data integrity, supporting temporary workforce setup, and delivering high-quality customer service and enrolment services that underpin New Zealand’s democratic process. 

Working closely with the wider Enrolment team, you’ll help ensure operational objectives are met while fostering a positive, high-performing team environment. 

This is a fixed term role until November 2026, and the salary is $72,480 per annum. 

He aha tāu e mahi ana | What you’ll be doing. 

  • Manage the customer support & processing team, provide day-to-day guidance, and pastoral care, engage directly with customer phone calls escalated to you from the team, and ensure work is completed accurately and to agreed standards. 
  • Support the setup of temporary teams, including onboarding, training, and contribute to achieving enrolment delivery plans. 
  • Oversee the confidential inquiries, compilation and maintenance of electoral roll data, ensuring compliance with legislation and national processes. 
  • Track team outputs, provide regular updates, and escalate any risks or issues in a timely, “no surprises” environment. 
  • Lead by example, support team development, and promote collaboration, inclusion, and political neutrality in all activities. 

Mōhou ake | About you 

You are an experienced leader who enjoys motivating a team, you are comfortable in a high volume, fast-paced environment, and have excellent interpersonal skills. You must be available to travel daily to The Terrace, Wellington.

  • Experience in team leadership or supervision, ideally in call centre/contact centre environments. 
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage data accurately and consistently. 
  • Good organisation and planning skills, with the ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines. 
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support and motivate a team. 
  • Confidence working with systems, processes, and data, including reporting and tracking progress. 
  • A commitment to integrity, political neutrality, and public service.
