Senior Medical Officer General Medicine and Geriatric Medicine

Waitemata District is a major provider of healthcare services in North and West Auckland, serving a population of approximately 640,000 people and employing more than 8,400 people.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and experienced General Medicine / Geriatric SMO to join our team.

To be successful at this role you will deliver excellent clinical services with the support of junior medical staff, management and other health professionals in a collegial and collaborative environment. This will include both General Medicine and Geriatric inpatient services. Your experience and knowledge will also positively assist us as we grow and train our future health workforce. To be eligible for this role you will be registered (or registerable) with the Medical Council of New Zealand and hold a FRACP (or equivalent).

We offer ongoing support for continuing medical education and our Division has extensive scope for research and clinical audits in either General Medicine or Geriatric Medicine.

As part of the continuous improvement and innovation of our services you will be actively involved in driving new and exciting changes in the models of care that we deliver to our patients, both now and into the future. Our service is undertaking ongoing improvement of our facilities to provide international best standard care for our patients and community.
