Facility Cleaner - Auckland at Government Communications Security Bureau, Auckland

We are looking for a reliable, detail‑oriented Facility Cleaner to keep our Auckland site buildings and facilities at a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene. Your work will help create a safe, pleasant environment for all staff while complying with relevant legislation, regulations and best practice.

This is a full‑time, permanent position (Monday – Friday) with core hours and flexible start / finish times within agreed limits to help balance work and personal commitments.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform daily cleaning tasks to a high standard (office areas, meeting rooms, hallways and passages, toilets, bathrooms, showers, kitchens and kitchenettes, service corridors, workshops, technical spaces, foyers and porches)
  • Track and restock inventory of cleaning supplies, hygiene items, kitchen provisions, and first‑aid consumables, and ensure that orders to replenish stocks are requested in time to maintain operations
  • Manage waste, recycling and hazardous‑material handling in line with health & safety guidelines
  • Identify and report maintenance issues, damage or security concerns to facilities management
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with the ability to liaise confidently and professionally with a range of people

What you bring:

  • Proven cleaning experience in a domestic, commercial or light‑industrial setting
  • Ability to plan and deliver comprehensive cleaning and hygiene services
  • Stock management and ordering (cleaning supplies, kitchen provisions etc)
  • Sound knowledge of health & safety practices, including HAZCHEM handling
  • Current clean Full NZ Drivers licence
  • First aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

Before you apply

Working within our unique environment means we have to ensure you're eligible for employment.

You must:

  • Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years

OR

Hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years

  • Be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance
    • Ordinarily, this means you'll have a 15 year checkable background in countries NZSIS Vetting can make meaningful and reliable checks.
