Allied Health Consultant - Older Person's Health & Rehabilitation Community Team at Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Waitaha Canterbury, Christchurch

About the Role

Older Persons Health and Rehabilitation services at Health New Zealand, Canterbury |Te Whatu Ora, Waitaha has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Allied Health Professional to advance their career and move into a senior leadership role as an Allied Health Consultant in our Older Persons Health and Rehabilitation Community Teams.  

This is a key leadership position, offering the opportunity to drive both clinical and strategic priorities, and contribute to the ongoing transformation of our services. You will play a critical role in shaping how Allied Health services are delivered, ensuring they are sustainable, integrated, and future-focused. This is an exciting opportunity for an innovative and outcome-focused clinician who has a deep commitment to work in collaboration across disciplines and is driven to achieve professional and operational excellence. 

Reporting to the Director of Allied Health OPH&R you will be part of the Allied Health Directorate and will work closely with the Community Clinical Managers, Community Service Manager and multidisciplinary teams.  The role is firmly focused on leadership within the services, however you will also have strong clinical experience within your area of practice. You will be based across Burwood Campus and the Heathcote Building, as well as working across our services and across the Waitaha Health system.

In this role your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing allied health strategic and clinical governance leadership, in order to deliver a sustainable, high-quality service that contributes to the achievement of organisational goals alongside the Director of Allied Health OPH&R and the Community Leadership team
  • Providing clinical leadership for the Allied Health workforce with a focus on community pathways, safe and high-quality care, outcomes focused practice and integration that support strategic development and organisational priorities
  • Supporting the integration of research evidence into practice and the implementation of contemporary models of care
  • Develop, maintain and evaluate organisational systems to facilitate delivery of safe, quality care
  • Providing clinical expertise at an advanced practice level within the specialist clinical area of Older Persons Health and Rehabilitation

About You

In this role you will work in partnership with the Community Service Manager, Community Managers and Director of Allied Health OPH&R to facilitate the ongoing development of best practice, promote inter-disciplinary models of care and lead service improvements that deliver improved outcomes for consumers and their families/whānau.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Experience in a leadership role is an essential but support for professional development will also be given
  • Ability to articulate a compelling vision for all Allied Health disciplines
  • Advanced level of knowledge and clinical experience of Older Persons Health & Rehab Community case management
  • Experience in leading improvement in service delivery and or practice development
  • Strong professional networks and relationship skills
  • Allied Health qualification and current Annual Practicing Certificate is essential
