About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse who has a passion for working with older people and improving health outcomes for Tāngata Whaiora/consumers with mental health and addiction issues. This rewarding role will be responsible for providing planned community-based care for Whaiora and their Whānau, undertake mental health assessments, proactively manage risk, coordinate with aged residential care providers as well as liaise with other community providers as necessary.

About the Team/Service/ Location
Covering the breadth of Taranaki the MHSOP team caters for older adults 65+ or who have early onset age related symptoms (dementia). The multi-disciplinary team is comprised of Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social Workers, an Occupational Therapist, Admin support and Registered Nurses.

About you
Successful candidates will be:
- Registered Nurse with current APC
- 2-3 years experience in acute &/or community based mental health services with excellent assessment knowledge and impeccable practice standards;
Preferable mental health experience working in the care of older people and excellent family/whanau inclusive practice;
- Knowledge of health legislation applicable in the area of mental health for older people (Mental Health Act, PPPR Act, etc)
- Ability to work under pressure, be a good team player and positively contribute to service delivery;
- Adept at developing strong working relationships both within specialist Mental Health & Addiction Services as well as NGO, primary stakeholders and other social sector agencies;
- Excellent interpersonal skills is a must as well as a commitment to continuous learning, is innovative and whai ora/whanau focused.
