About the role
The Microbiology department of LabPLUS has a vacancy for a permanent Quality Technical Specialist to provide support to the Laboratory Manager and SUM to promote Quality across the department and ensure departmental compliance with accreditation and legal requirements.
This role assists with co-ordination of IANZ and internal audit assessments and contribute as auditor in internal assessments. The role co-ordinate External Quality Assurance programmes for the department, contribute to Process Improvement Projects, assist in investigation of incidents and root-cause analysis and oversee the Quality area which is responsible for maintenance and calibration of equipment, quality control checks on media, kits and reagents and in-house media production.
The successful candidate for this position will receive orientation and on the job training, formal supervision and professional development opportunities.

LabPLUS is an IANZ accredited medical laboratory and is one of New Zealand's premier laboratories. LabPLUS are part of Te Toka Tumai Auckland. We offer a comprehensive pathology service for Auckland City Hospital, Starship Childrens Hospital, National Women's Health, and the Greenlane Clinical Centre. The Microbiology Unit uses molecular and culture techniques to identify a range of organisms including enteric pathogens, multi-resistant organisms, anaerobes, fungi and Mycobacteria.
About you
To be successful you will have:
- Registration as a Medical Laboratory Scientist with the Medical Sciences Council of NZ - mscouncil.org.nz - with a current Annual Practicing Certificate and a minimum of 5 years experience in a Microbiology Laboratory.
- Great communication skills and knowledge of the analytical processes. You will have a strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and a can-do attitude to work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
