• Registered Nurse Fracture Liaison and Endocrinology Service (0.9 FTE)
• Fixed term 1 year position
• This role will straddle both our Endocrinology and Fracture Liaison Service

The Fracture Liaison Service (FLS) is a specialist, patient-centred programme providing comprehensive bone health assessment and coordinated management for people who have sustained fragility fractures. The service delivers evidence-based recommendations aimed at reducing future fracture risk and improving long-term outcomes.

Endocrinology is a speciality that spans paediatrics to the elderly and encompasses a wide and varied range of medical conditions including growth, puberty, thyroid, adrenal, reproductive endocrine disorders such as polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), through to pituitary disorders and osteoporosis.

About the Role

The Registered Nurses role is to meet the needs of patients and their families/whānau using contemporary nursing care, which is safe, appropriate, and effective.

The care is based on comprehensive assessment, ensures continuity, and is patient/client-centred, culturally sensitive, and evidence-based.

Key responsibilities include:

• Use of nursing knowledge and skills to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patients/ clients/ family / Whānau health needs.
• Delivery of education and provides information to patients/clients/family/Whānau to improve knowledge of disease/illness, self-management and prevention of complications and promotion of recovery.
• Participating in service evaluation, audit, and research activities to support continuous improvement
• Collaboration and communication with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate care to achieve the best health outcomes.

This fixed term role (0.9 FTE, 72 hours per fortnight) is based at Greenlane Clinical Centre.

About you

You will be an experienced nurse with:

• A commitment to achieving equitable outcomes for Māori
• RGN; RGON; RPN; RCpN with or without BN or BHSC (Nursing)
• Registration with Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ)
• Evidence of competence to practice within the Registered Nurses scope of practice
• A current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC)
• A personal commitment to ongoing learning and development
