About the Role

This is an opportunity to build a fulfilling and meaningful career in one of New Zealand's most established Intellectual Disability Mental Health Services.

You will provide specialist assessment, diagnosis and treatment for adults with intellectual disabilities and co-existing mental health needs. Working across two community teams, you will support people with complex presentations including dual diagnosis, neurodevelopmental disorders, challenging behaviours and those subject to the IDCC&R Act 2003.

About the Service

The Intellectual Disability Mental Health Service provides specialist assessment and treatment for adults with intellectual disabilities and complex mental health needs throughout Canterbury.  The service consists of both inpatient and outpatient settings. This is a collegial, values-driven service where multidisciplinary collaboration is at the heart of everything we do. 

About you

We are seeking a Clinical Psychologist who combines clinical excellence with compassion, creativity, an ability to adapt mainstream therapies and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for people with intellectual disabilities.

Registration with the NZ Psychology Board and current Annual Practicing Certificate is essential.

You will have a clear understanding of the Social Model of Disability and the New Zealand Disability Strategy is essential.

Expertise in Applied Behavioural Analysis would be an advantage.
