About the Role
As a Kai Manaaki Kidney Care Navigator, you will provide practical, non-clinical support to renal patients and their whānau to enable engagement with renal services.
Key responsibilities include:
- Promote accessibility for people/ and their whānau in caring for their renal health.
- Support attendance, safe transitions, and understanding of the renal care plan.
- Work within defined duties, structured supervision, and established communication pathways.

About the Team/Service/ Location
The Renal Service provides specialist kidney care for people across Te Tai Tokerau, supporting patients with chronic kidney disease, dialysis, and kidney health management. Our multidisciplinary team is committed to delivering equitable, person-centred care and works closely with communities throughout the region to improve health outcomes. This role offers the opportunity to support patients and whānau across Northland while working as part of a dedicated and supportive team.

About you
As a Kai Manaaki Kidney Care Navigator, you will have proven communication and interpersonal skills, including an ability to relate to a wide range of people in the hospital, community, agencies and Government organisations.
- Full and clean New Zealand Drivers licence
- Demonstrates culturally safe practice and a sound understanding of tikanga Māori
- Ability to work with whānau and build relationships
- Proven organisational and time management skills
- High level of interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and demonstrate initiative
- Previous work experience in healthcare is desired but not essential to apply for this position
