Corporate Procurement Specialist at Natural Hazards Commission Toka Tū Ake , Wellington

About the role | Mo te mahi 

We are looking for a Corporate Procurement Specialist to deliver end-to-end procurement processes that support the goods and services needed across the organisation. You'll play a key role in ensuring our procurement practices are fit-for-purpose and aligned with Central Government procurement objectives. 

You'll design and run procurement activity that's proportionate to the value, complexity and risk involved, while providing sound commercial advice and supporting senior colleagues on more complex work. You'll also contribute to team capability by sharing lessons learned and helping strengthen consistent, effective ways of working. 

This is a fixed term opporutnity until 25 June 2027.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Run efficient end-to-end procurement activity that's tailored to the value, complexity and risk of what's being sourced.  
  • Offer clear, timely advice on purchasing approaches, contractual arrangements and commercial considerations.  
  • Support the delivery of higher-value or more complex procurement work led by senior colleagues, including assisting with tender evaluation and moderation.  
  • Assist with drafting contracts (including Government Model Contracts and Consultancy Service Orders) and prepare tender requirements and assessment criteria.  
  • Champion continuous improvement – capturing lessons learned, identifying better ways of working and promoting the uptake of tools such as Procure Connect and eInvoicing.  
  • Build strong internal relationships and support engagement with suppliers and government procurement partners to enable good procurement outcomes. 

 

Skills & Experience| Nga pukenga me nga wheako  

To be successful in this role you will bring: 

  • 1–3 years' experience in a procurement or commercial advisory role, with hands-on involvement across end-to-end procurement activity.  
  • A sound commercial mindset, with the ability to assess procurement and contractual arrangements – ideally in a public sector context.  
  • A good working understanding of Government Procurement Rules and how they apply in practice.  
  • Confident communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to translate procurement advice into practical guidance for a range of stakeholders.  
  • Solid relationship-building skills and a collaborative approach, with strong attention to detail and a proactive, self-motivated style.  
  • A tertiary qualification in business, commerce, procurement or a related discipline (e.g. Bachelor of Commerce, MCIPS or equivalent) would be an advantage.
