About the role
We are seeking a Nurse Specialist in a permanent, full-time capacity for our Eating Disorders Service in the Consult Liaison Team, Starship.
This role is an advanced practice specialty role. The Nurse Specialist is an expert in assessments, diagnostic reasoning and have specialist knowledge of complex conditions which is central to the role.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The Nurse Specialist will join the friendly and supportive multidisciplinary Consult Liaison Team to support the Starship Tupu Ora Inpatient Eating Disorders service (EDS). The Starship EDS provides specialist inpatient care for children with eating disorders across Auckland region. EDS is comanaged with general paediatrics for rangatahi requiring medical stabilisation.
About you
You will have strong leadership skills and advanced knowledge of young people and psychiatric comorbid disorders. You will work collaboratively and autonomously to provide specialist advice and knowledge with a strong patient and family/ whānau focus.
To be successful you will have:
- Current NZ Nursing Registration and an annual practicing certificate
- Experience with young people with eating disorders / mental health conditions
- Experienced in creating a therapeutic environment
- Post graduate qualification (Masters desirable)
- Good communication and de-escalation skills
