About the Role
We are inviting applications for a senior fellowship position in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at Auckland City Hospital New Zealand! Come and join out dedicated team of Medical, Nursing and Allied Health Professionals.
We provide tertiary care predominately for the Auckland and Northern region, as well as providing care for high-risk patients from across New Zealand. We are the National Heart & Lung transplant Unit and National ECMO Centre.

About the Team/Service/ Location
Positioned in the centre of Auckland one of the worlds most liveable cities, our Cardiothoracic and Vascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at Auckland City Hospital is a stand-alone Intensive Care department with 18 ICU and 8 HDU beds. We provide care to patients following all cardiothoracic and vascular surgery as well as heart and lung transplantation. We also provide mechanical cardiac and respiratory support for the sickest patients in the country as the National ECMO referral centre. Patient care is managed by a skilled team of Intensivists.
There are around 2200 ICU admissions and 800 HDU admissions per year. The unit has accreditation for training from the College of Intensive Care Medicine (CICM). An active program in transoesophageal and transthoracic echocardiography exists on the CVICU.

About you
Please check if you have the following requirements:
- Ideally the successful applicant will have completed a postgraduate examination in intensive care medicine and possibly completed (or have six months remaining) all of their post graduate training time in intensive care medicine
- You must either have or be eligible for general or post graduate trainee registration with the New Zealand Medical Council (www.mcnz.org.nz)
- During the second six months of this position, you will take part in the consultant on call roster (with appropriate supervision). This position will fulfil the CICMs requirement for a transition year.
