About the Role
Are you a registered Medical Laboratory Scientist seeking an exciting opportunity in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment? A rare opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and capable MLS to join our busy and diverse Biochemistry Department.
This role also involves some Haematology during out-of-hours shifts. The successful applicant will be a motivated and reliable team player with excellent interpersonal skills and a strong attention to detail. You will demonstrate effective time management and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

About the Team/Service/ Location
Our laboratory is an integral part of the wider laboratory services at Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Waikato, servicing inpatients, outpatients and community patients of the Manawa Taki region. The laboratory service is situated over five sites, our central laboratory at Waikato Hospital in Hamilton and our satellite laboratories in Tokoroa, Thames, Taumarunui and Te Kuiti hospitals.

Waikato Hospital is a major regional hospital in Hamilton and is a leading tertiary teaching hospital located in Hamilton, New Zealand, serving as the regional hub for the Midland area, which includes the Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Lakes, Tairawhiti, and Taranaki districts. With around 722 inpatient beds, 22 operating theatres, and a dedicated outpatient clinic and procedure centre, Waikato Hospital provides comprehensive hospital services, including radiology, laboratory, and pharmacy. About you
- Registration with the Medical Science Council NZ and a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC) are essential
- Up to date knowledge of laboratory practice is desired
- Experience with Roche analysers and track systems is advantageous
- Experience with Haematology analysers is desirable
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to perform effectively under pressure
