About the Role
As a Hand Therapist, you will play a vital role in supporting people with hand and upper limb conditions throughout their recovery journey. Working with a varied caseload, you will complete assessments, develop individualised treatment plans, provide rehabilitation and education, and help patients achieve the best possible functional outcomes. You will work collaboratively with patients, whānau, orthopaedic specialists, and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a well - established service that offers exposure to a wide range of hand therapy presentations. You'll be supported by experienced clinicians and encouraged to further develop your skills through mentoring, professional supervision, ongoing training, and continuing professional development. About the Team/Service/ Location
Our Hand Therapy Service is a small, highly skilled team of clinicians providing specialist assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation for patients with hand and upper limb injuries and conditions. Working closely alongside Orthopaedic Services and other Allied Health professionals, we are committed to delivering equitable, patient-centred care across Hawkes Bay.
Based at Hawkes Bay Hospital, you'll be part of a collaborative and supportive Allied Health workforce that values clinical excellence, continuous learning, and innovation in patient care.

About you
As a Hand Therapist, you will be a motivated clinician with a passion for helping people regain function and independence.
- New Zealand Registered Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist with a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC).
- Registered or Associate Hand Therapist, or willing to undertake hand therapy training with relevant musculoskeletal experience.
- Strong clinical assessment, treatment planning, and rehabilitation skills within a musculoskeletal setting.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to culturally safe practice and delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.
