Cyber Security Advisor at Government Communications Security Bureau, Wellington

The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) is a part of the Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB) | Te Tira Tiaki, providing cyber security services to all New Zealanders. Our vision is a New Zealand where good cyber security happens, everywhere, all the time, by everyone.

The role

We are seeking Cyber Security Advisors to help us build and maintain relationships with nationally significant organisations within New Zealand.

Your role will be to understand the cyber maturity of nationally significant organisations, delivering insights to both the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and its customers. This is a not a ‘technical position’ - you’ll help build the cyber resilience of organisations by facilitating collaboration across key sectors that support the economy. You’ll produce and deliver presentations on cyber security; provide advice and guidance to help protect New Zealand’s most important organisations and you’ll help us build and maintain relationships with our key stakeholders in New Zealand.

Travel Requirements:

  • Pacific Travel Role (1x Level 3): One of our Level 3 positions requires a candidate who is comfortable with and available for regular international travel within the Pacific region as required.
  • Domestic Travel Roles (1x Level 3, 1x Level 2): The other two positions will involve domestic travel within New Zealand only, as required for the role.

  • IT or cyber security
  • Consulting or Advisory services
  • Audit and Assurance or
  • Governance Risk and Compliance

The appointing salary range for these roles is:

Cyber Security Advisor Level 2 - 103,009 - 109,876

Cyber Security Advisor Level 3 - 120,359 - 128,383

Before you apply

Working within our unique environment means we must ensure you’re eligible for employment. You must:

  • Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years
    OR
    Hold a current NZ Residency Class visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years
  • Be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) clearance
    • Ordinarily this means you will have a 15-year checkable background in countries NZSIS Vetting can make meaningful and reliable checks
