The CE Office, Strategy and People Group brings together strategy, governance, performance and organisational capability to support how Maritime NZ delivers on its priorities.

Te tūnga | The role

As Manager Planning, Performance and Risk, you will provide strategic leadership across organisational planning, performance, risk, assurance and operational health and safety. Working closely with senior leaders and the Executive Leadership Team, you will help shape organisational direction, drive performance, accountability, and impact assessment, lead statutory reporting requirements, and ensure effective risk and assurance frameworks support Maritime NZ’s strategic objectives and operational success.

• Work with the Managers, Organisational Transformation, and External Strategy and Programmes to develop and support performance frameworks that clearly connect Maritime NZ’s internal and external strategies, regulatory interventions, organisational priorities, intended outcomes, and performance.
• Provide strategic leadership across organisational planning, performance, reporting, risk, assurance, and operational health and safety.
• Lead the development of integrated planning and performance frameworks that align strategy, priorities, resources, and delivery.
• Lead organisational performance reporting and ensure the delivery of statutory and government accountability requirements.
• Drive enterprise risk management, internal assurance, audit programmes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Lead business continuity and protective security programmes to strengthen organisational resilience and preparedness.
• Provide leadership for internal operational health and safety, fostering a strong culture of wellbeing and safety.
• Partner with the Executive Leadership Team and senior leaders to support decision-making, prioritisation, and organisational performance.
• Lead a high-performing team while fostering collaboration across Maritime NZ to achieve strategic outcomes.

We're looking for an experienced and strategic leader with a proven track record in organisational planning, performance, risk. You'll bring strong people leadership skills, the ability to influence and collaborate across a complex organisation, and experience providing trusted advice to senior leaders. Success in this role will require sound judgement, a systems-thinking approach, a commitment to continuous improvement, and the ability to lead through change while fostering an inclusive and high-performing team culture.

• Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience.
• Experience in developing, implementing planning, and performance reporting frameworks and systems including the ability to drive coherent planning and reporting frameworks that take a whole of organisation perspective.
• Demonstrated experience in leading, performance and risks functions, preferably in a Crown Entity or public sector environment.
• Proven people leadership capability with an empathetic, inclusive and development focused approach.
• Strong relationship management and collaboration skills across diverse stakeholder groups.
• Proven decision-making and judgement and ability to be forward thinking and innovative in approach and be comfortable working with change.
• Highly developed written and oral communications skills and/or experience providing advice to Boards and Executive Management.
• Experience and understanding of project and change frameworks and systems.
• Ability to work in a culturally safe and respectful manner, with understanding of Te Ao Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.
• Embraces change and supports others through strategic and organisational transformation.

This is a permanent, full-time role (37.5 hour per week) with an appointing salary range of $166,424- $203,408 depending on skills and experience.
