About the Role
We are currently seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our Emergency Department (ED) Clerical Team as an Administrator / Telephonist. These roles are essential in supporting the smooth day-to-day operations of our busy Emergency Department and Communication Hub.
As part of this position, you will be cross trained across both functions, requiring strong teamwork, adaptability, and the ability to remain calm under pressure, while maintaining strict patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.

Our Emergency Department Clerical Team consists of 18 committed professionals who provide high-quality support to clinical staff, patients, and whānau. We take pride in delivering compassionate care in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Key Responsibilities
As an ED Administrator, you will play a pivotal role in the daily operations of our Emergency Department, providing vital administrative support to medical staff, assist with patient flow and coordination within the department, and ensuring that patients and whānau have a positive experience in a time of need.
As a Telephonist, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, families, medical staff, and internal emergency situations, ensuring that calls are answered promptly and directed efficiently. This role is crucial in maintaining communication flow.
What we are looking for:
- Availability to work rostered rotating shifts, covering 24/7 operations (8-hour shifts)
- Minimum of two years experience as a receptionist, telecommunication or similar administration role
- Experience with all Windows-based applications
- Strong communication skills and a professional phone manner
- Ability to remain calm, courteous, and professional under pressure
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced, changing environment
- A positive attitude and strong team-player mindset
- Demonstrated understanding of the importance of patient privacy and confidentiality, with the ability to handle sensitive information
