About the role | Mō te tūranga mahi

As a Senior Financial Accountant, you will play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, maintaining robust financial controls, and providing trusted accounting advice across ACC. Working within the Financial Accounting team, you will contribute to monthly management reporting, Board reporting, statutory reporting, reconciliations, tax compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to apply your technical accounting expertise to support informed decision-making and organisational performance, contributing to keeping Kiwis safe at work, at home, and everywhere in between.

This is a permanent role, based in Wellington.

The appointing salary for this role is $101,287 - $142,993 based on experience. ACC offers a comprehensive benefits package which at present includes an advantageous superannuation scheme (9% contribution) with features like no mandatory employee contribution, optional life and income protection insurance.

About you | Mōu

You will bring:

  • At least five years' experience as a senior accountant.
  • Strong technical knowledge of financial reporting standards, accounting principles and statutory reporting requirements.
  • A CA qualification.
  • Experience managing financial controls, reconciliations and compliance obligations, with a focus on accuracy and risk management.
  • The ability to analyse complex issues, apply sound judgement and implement practical solutions.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to build trusted relationships and provide expert financial advice.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information clearly.
  • Experience in coaching, mentoring or supporting the development of others.
  • A continuous improvement mindset and a drive to enhance processes, systems and ways of working.
  • New Zealand work rights at the time of application.
