• 12-month Fixed term full-time Senior Nursing opportunity

The Haematology Service at Auckland City Hospital is comprised of a 30-bed inpatient unit including 14 bone marrow transplantation (BMT) beds, a Haematology Day Stay Unit, 8 bedded Haematology/Oncology inpatient ward and outpatient clinics. The regional BMT service covers Northland and the greater Auckland region for autologous and allograft transplants and includes the Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Lakes and Tairawhiti DHBs for allogeneic transplants.

 The Opportunity

The Associate Nurse Unit Manager (Associate NUM) Haematology provides operational and professional nursing leadership to support the delivery of safe, high-quality, and person-centred specialised haematology care. Working in close partnership with the Haematology Service Clinical Director (SCD) and Nurse Unit Manager (NUM), the Associate NUM undertakes delegated responsibilities and leads service improvement and project-based initiatives in response to evolving service needs.

About the Role

The role supports the day-to-day operational management of the service, including capacity management, demand planning, and resource coordination, ensuring alignment with the strategic priorities of the Directorate and the wider organisation. As the Associate NUM , you will be

• Accountable for maintaining high standards of clinical care
• Supporting workforce development and promoting quality and safety within the multidisciplinary team.
• Working In collaboration with the NUM, the Associate NUM also contributes to continuous quality improvement activities and service development projects across both inpatient and outpatient haematology services.

About You

• Post-graduate Diploma
• Minimum 5 years experience post registration
• Proficient or Expert Level of practice
• Advanced experience in speciality nursing

• Sound understanding of professional ethics
• Change and financial management experience
• Quality improvement knowledge
• Advanced quality of service skills
• Previous Charge Nurse experience
• Masters qualification
• Management training
• Project management
